Psychology — Associate of Science Transfer (AST)

The Associate of Science Transfer (AST) degree in Psychology prepares students to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field. The program provides a foundation in the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes, emphasizing critical thinking, research methods, and data analysis.

Coursework introduces students to biological and social perspectives on behavior and supports the development of communication and analytical skills applicable across a wide range of disciplines.

This degree follows the statewide Psychology Major Transfer Map (MTM), enabling students who complete the degree to meet lower-division transfer requirements for participating Oregon public universities, subject to admission requirements.

Completion of the AST in Psychology provides preparation for continued study in fields such as mental health, social and human services, education, research, and other related disciplines. Most career opportunities in psychology require a bachelor’s degree or higher.

NOTE: One course must fulfill the Cultural Literacy requirement.
